Posh Salt

My youngest god-daughter, Dorelia, is fashion-forward. She came back from a trip to Paris with her father with two birthday presents for me.

One was from Fragonard and the other is pictured above. It is a plastic grinder charged with golden salt crystals from the Himalayas. I predict that no country-house opera picnic will be complete without this accoutrement and it was jolly smart of Dorelia to be an early adopter.  The Fragonard present is Eau de Hongrie, that describes itself as “a 14th-century composition of soft bergamot and jasmine notes on a warm background of amber and cistus. Authentic, timeless and elegantly sober, it never fails to charm”. I only wish that it could convey some of these attributes to me when I’ve sloshed it on. It doesn’t but it does have a super smell.

While on god-daughters another (Sophy), who is so fashion-forward that she works in fashion for a high-end American brand, has bought a flat in cosmopolitan Tooting. She has asked me over for lunch in a few weeks. It’s fun when grown-up god-children become friends.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the LAMDA building project progresses. Spot the differences in these two pictures of the theatre fly tower.

  1. Slightly concerned my Malden’s Sea Salt (from Sainsbury’s Local, Tooting) is rather inferior! Looking forward to seeing you.
