Sentebale

I only glance at a restaurant bill but when I glanced at this one I didn’t recognise the £1 charge for Sentebale. It’s not the money, as people say when it is the money, it was curiosity.

I thought maybe it was a fancy name for bread, cover charge or napkins. Wrong, it is for Sentebale.

It is a charity founded in 2006 by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho (the High Commissioner in London) to help vulnerable children in Lesotho.

King Moshoeshoe I (1822–1868)

The king and his ministers are curiously attired. At the end of his reign, at his request in the face of incursions by the Boers, it became a British Protectorate until it became independent in 1966, retaining membership of the Commonwealth. It is an independent country while being an enclave of South Africa which poses challenges.

Pizza Express were a leader, contributing part of the price of a Pizza Veneziana to Venice in Peril. Many London restaurants include a contribution for the homeless in the run-up to Christmas. I’m supportive of restaurants that ask their customers to give to a good cause.

Pizza Veneziana: pine kernels, red onion, baby capers, black olives, sultanas, mozzarella and tomato.

But Pizza Express needs to adjust its circa 1960s recipe; ditch the pine kernels and sultanas and insert anchovies and rocket.

  1. No, no,no! Don’t change the recipe.. I love Venezianas as they are… Mind you adding rocket and anchovies on special occasions would be fun.
